The Journey Home

> I grew up near the sea and I love to be beside the water whenever I can. Most of my holidays are by the coast in some form or another (as you’ll see in my travel photography throughout this website), and I do treat trips back home like a holiday.

My regular pilgrimage involves getting the ferry from North Shields to South Shields, and walking back home to Sunderland for three hours along a beautiful windswept coastline with the reward of the best fish and chips in the country (in my opinion) at The Queen’s Cafe in Seaburn.

It’s actually only two hours of walking, but you have to make a couple of stops on the way, for a beer at Marsden Grotto and some light gambling at Leisureworld.

I decided to take my camera last time, to document the adventure, and a few of these shots were featured in my exhibitions at Sydenham Artists Trail and Ignition Brewery. They actually drew quite a bit of interest, alongside other photos from much more exotic seaside locations.
